Update on Joe’s fights I posted on YouTube

July 28th, 2008

Fuck YouTubeAfter spending hours and hours and hours converting Joe’s fights in a format that YouTube would convert to HQ, I finally posted many of his fights.  However, about a month ago YouTube suspended my account citing copyright violation for some Red Sox highlights I posted.  What a fucking joke!  The video that got me banned was posted by numerous other people and stayed on the front page for days.

I strongly urge everyone against using YouTube.  They will use you by letting you post copyrighted material, because that is what really brings people to the site.  However, when they get the call from MLB, HBO, etc. they not only take your video down, they disable your account without allowing you access back to your videos.

Their logic is they can’t keep track of every single video that’s posted.  It’s not that hard assholes, just look on the front page of what’s hot.

I will be looking for alternative methods for posting content in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned.

I’m back….. and so is Joe!

Heavy Hitters

Sorry for the extended delay.  Unforeseen family issues arose and I haven’t had much spare time to keep the Greene nation updated.

I’ll make this quick.  Joe is scheduled to be on Wednesday Night Fights on 8/13/08 against Jose Miguel Torres.  If you didn’t know, this will be his debut at 154.  Torres isn’t that well known, but he shouldn’t be underestimated.  He’s a hard puncher like Joe and can end a fight with a single punch.  If Joe gets lackadaisical with his defense, he could easily lose this fight.  I don’t see that happening, but I wouldn’t be blown away if it did happen.

In other interesting news, Joe has stated if he defeats Torres, he wants a fight with John Duddy in NYC later this year.  “If I can’t get a title shot after beating Torres on August 13th, then I definitely want to stay busy and stay sharp and I can’t think of a better way to do that for myself and boxing fans than to fight John Duddy,” said Greene. “We both represent New York, we both come to fight, and the winner of our bout can’t be ignored for a title shot.  So let’s make it happen.”

Joe Greene vs. Owen Radway (2004 NYC Golden Gloves Final)

April 25th, 2008

Joe dominated Radway in this fight to win the 2004 NYC Golden Gloves. This is easily one of my favorite knockouts of all time. Due to YouTube time limitations, I could only upload the 4th round of the fight along with the post fight replays.

Video of the entire Joshua Okine fight

April 25th, 2008

Due to size and time duration limitations, I can’t post all of Joe’s fight on YouTube.  However, I have uploaded it here.

If you have a problem playing it, you need to install the proper codecs.  I would suggest using a codec pack such as the K-Lite Codec Pack (Full Version).  Run the install and just accept all of the defaults then open the fight up again and it should work.

I received all of the emails about Joe’s future plans.  As soon as I hear what’s next, I’ll share it with you guys.

I have edited the fight video and posted the intro and Round 9 to YouTube.  Enjoy….

Joe KO’s Okine in the 9th - WE ALL IN!

April 23rd, 2008

Joe improved to 19-0 with an impressive outing against a tough Joshua Okine.  He seemed much more relaxed than in previous fights.  As exciting as his flurries are to watch, he sometimes gets carried away with throwing power shots that have little chance of doing damage.   On numerous occasions tonight he started throwing those trademark power combinations, but unlike previous fights, he backed off when there was nothing there rather than trying to punch through his opponent.

Joe started off the fight using the body more than in previous fights until he was deducted a point for two low blows in Round 2.  In the first two rounds he landed 11 of his 14 body shots.  After getting the point reduction, Joe rarely went to the body and only threw 14 more body shots the entire fight.  The more experience he gets, the more confident he become in those situations and won’t completely abandon the body work.

As the fight went into the middle rounds, Joe was dominating the fight by landing his punches and showing the world just how quick he is.  He looked like a young Mayweather using lightning fast head movement and footwork to elude most of Okine’s punches.  When he got backed up, he wisely covered up (much more than usual) and let the gloves absorb Okine’s punches.  After a absorbing a few punches, Joe would aggresivley (sometimes too aggressive) attack back with huricane hooks and straight blows to the face.  He still didn’t keep his hands up as much as I’d like to see and if he does lose anytime soon, I think that will be the downfall.  Okine did begin to slow as the rounds went on and even began the annoying rushing tactic a few times, but Joe would cover up to weather the storm then go right back at him.  Okine made a valiant effort, but was obviously outclassed tonight.

At 2:10 into the 9th round you hear Joe’s father scream “get this shit over with”.  No more than 10 seconds later, Joe We All Inwobbled Okine with a vicious right hook.  After Okine tied Joe up for a few seconds, Joe then landed a straight right with 1:42 left that put Okine on the mat.  Okine seemed to recover okay, but was obviously still shaken up.  With 1:20 left, Joe landed an absolute BRUTAL right hook that snapped Okine’s head back, bending his back over his knees, knocking him into the ropes and to the mat for the second knockdown of the round.  I wouldn’t be suprised if it made Sportscenter tonight.  Okine survived the knockdown again only to have the ref stop the fight with a minute to go due to a barrage of punches that left him defenseless.

Okine has huge balls.  He took serious shots all night, yet was able to stay around for 9 rounds.  Let’s not foget Okine took the fight on 4 days notice as well.  I could tell Joe respected him after the fight as well.  He rarely goes out of his way to praise his opponent and while the camera was on him, you could hear him give respect to Okine.

Final Punch Stats
Joe
Total -149/443 (34%)
Jabs - 50/227
Head - 131/418
Body - 18/25

Okine
Total - 85/467 (18%)
Jabs - 26/195
Head - 68/396
Body - 17/71

I had Joe winning the fight 79 - 72 going into the 9th round.  The only round Joe didn’t win was the 2nd when he was deducted a point for low blows.

On a final note, this was Joe’s first fight as a Super Middleweight.  It will be interesting to see how this affects the rankings over the coming months.

I’ll post video of the 9th round in the coming days.
